A complete set of dentures is used when a patient needs all of their teeth to be replaced. This may be because they have naturally lost all of their teeth, or because what teeth remained needed to be extracted. The complete set includes two plates the top plate, and the bottom plate. These rest comfortably in the mouth against the gums and are commonly held in place with adhesive. There are many great benefits:
- Improve your health
- Look younger
- Protect your jaw bone
- Prevent diseases
- Feel confident smiling again
- Enjoy your favorite foods
And many more. But despite these benefits, many patients who visit us at Dental Care of Plano are hesitant to commit to complete dentures. Modern dentures are very different from the sets of fake teeth your grandparents probably had.
Dentures Require an Adjustment Period
In order for dentures to feel right in your mouth, they will require an adjustment period. However, gone are the days when everyone had the same set of large white chompers as dentures. This procedure today is custom created to give you the smile you want. We can recreate your old, healthy smile, or give you something that looks great on your face.
This also means that the dentures will be more comfortable when you wear them. When each plate is custom made for your gums, the dentures will stay in place better and should need fewer adjustments. Most patients only need a short time period to learn how to speak and eat around their new dentures.
